Karine Jean-Pierre may have left the Democratic Party, but that doesn’t mean she’s done parroting the left’s talking points—especially regarding free speech.

In a video about her puzzlingly titled Independent book, Jean-Pierre specifically mentioned “disinformation” and “misinformation” as reasons for her departure. The self-described “historic” former White House press secretary did not clarify what she meant by those terms.

“In an era of misinformation, disinformation, the regressiveness of social policy—what we’re seeing currently right now—what I have decided to do, and I really have thought long and hard about this, is to follow my own compass,” Jean-Pierre said in the clip, shared by her publisher, Hachette Book Group.

Jean-Pierre’s fixation on so-called mis- and disinformation—euphemisms for speech that the left disagrees with—is hardly surprising. She served as the mouthpiece of a White House that, as unveiled by MRC Free Speech America, orchestrated no less than 57 censorship initiatives and worked to create a “whole-of-society approach” to censoring speech.

ICYMI: Learn How Biden Exploited Federal Agencies to Censor You

Headlined “The Biden Administration Waged War on Free Speech with 57 Censorship Initiatives,” the MRC Special Report breaks down how the Biden administration unleashed an assault against constitutionally protected speech. Often, this anti-free speech campaign was carried out under the pretense of fighting so-called misinformation—all in cahoots with Big Tech companies.

Jean-Pierre, now urging Americans to think outside of “boxes,” routinely deflected or ignored questions about this collusion during her tenure as the “first Black & openly queer“ individual to be White House press secretary.

After U.S. Judge Terry A. Doughty characterized Biden’s censorship efforts as an “Orwellian ‘Ministry of Truth,’” Jean-Pierre shot back: “[W]e disagree with the decision.” Later, the administration filed an emergency petition to continue its collusion with Big Tech companies.

In 2022, Jean-Pierre also faced repeated questions about the White House’s role in censorship, but she consistently remained silent. When asked about the extent of coordination in September of that year, she replied: “So, I–I–I don’t have anything to–to share with you on that, and I’m not going to comment on–on that right this time.”

In November 2022, when asked about X owner Elon Musk’s vow to restore free speech on his platform (then called Twitter), Jean-Pierre threatened

“This is something that we're certainly keeping an eye on. It is [social media platforms’] responsibility to make sure when it comes to misinformation, when it comes to the hate that we’re seeing, that they take action, that they continue to take action. [W]e're all keeping a close eye on this. We're all monitoring what’s currently occurring.”
